NCB Partners with NAPAS to Deploy Cross-border QR Code Payment Connectivity
With just a simple QR code scan, international tourists can now use their familiar banking applications from their home countries to conveniently make payments in Vietnam. This is the VIETQRGlobal cross-border QR code payment solution implemented by National Citizen Commercial Joint Stock Bank (NCB) in collaboration with Vietnam National Payment Corporation (NAPAS), contributing to promoting cashless payments and attracting international visitors to Vietnam.
According to data from the General Statistics Office, in 2025, the tourism sector recorded impressive growth with nearly 21.2 million international arrivals, an increase of over 20.4% compared to 2024 and the highest level ever recorded. In this context, providing fast and convenient payment solutions plays an important role in promoting the development of Vietnam’s tourism industry in the digital era and enhancing Vietnam’s attractiveness on the global tourism map.
Proactively capturing trends and responding swiftly, National Citizen Commercial Joint Stock Bank (NCB), in coordination with Vietnam National Payment Corporation (NAPAS), has deployed the VIETQRGlobal cross-border payment solution, contributing to promoting spending and enhancing the cashless payment experience of international visitors to Vietnam.

Seamless experience, convenient spending
With the service implemented by NCB in collaboration with NAPAS, international visitors from markets such as Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and China can now use their familiar banking or e-wallet applications in their home countries to scan NCB’s VietQR codes and complete transactions within seconds, completely eliminating inconveniences related to currency exchange when traveling or the need to carry physical cards.
The entire payment process is conducted directly on the international customer’s banking application, with the system automatically processing transactions, converting exchange rates, and recording payments instantly. Payment information is also fully and transparently displayed, enabling customers to easily track their spending and perform reconciliation when necessary. VIETQRGlobal has currently been deployed in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and China, and is continuing to expand to other countries such as South Korea and Singapore, gradually completing and expanding Vietnam’s cross-border payment infrastructure.
Attractive incentives for merchants accepting payments via VIETQRGlobal
Not only enhancing the experience for international tourists, the cross-border QR payment solution – VIETQRGlobal implemented by NCB in collaboration with NAPAS – also brings many practical benefits to merchants and service providers. Accepting payments via VIETQRGlobal enables merchants to expand their customer base, particularly among international tourists with high spending demand who prefer cashless payment methods. Transactions are conducted quickly, reducing risks related to counterfeit money, small change, and easing cash management pressure during peak hours..
To accompany merchants during the deployment phase, from now until April 15, 2026, NCB is launching an attractive incentive program for merchants accepting payments via VIETQRGlobal. Accordingly, shop owners can receive cashback of up to VND 500,000, with a cashback rate of 20% of each transaction value (maximum VND 50,000 per transaction), applicable to the first 10 transactions at each merchant location. This incentive program not only helps reduce operating costs but also encourages merchants to confidently adopt modern payment methods, enhance service capacity, and increase revenue from international customers.

This marks the next step of NCB in its journey to remove payment barriers for international tourists and to enhance service capacity at destinations amid the rapid development of digital tourism. Previously, with the vision of “Transitioning from transactions to experiences: payments as a national competitive advantage in tourism,” NCB officially became a strategic partner deploying the iziPay digital payment solution (in collaboration with the National Data Association and Visa), directly integrated into the national tourism and data platform Visit Vietnam. Accordingly, customers can easily book services, make payments directly on the Visit Vietnam application, and enjoy safe and seamless payment experiences at acceptance points across Vietnam.
In the coming time, NCB will continue to develop payment solutions in a direction that is more convenient, secure, and aligned with global digital consumption behaviors, thereby contributing to the completion of Vietnam’s digital tourism ecosystem, supporting the service business community, and accompanying the sustainable growth objectives of the tourism industry.
