Announcement on discontinuation of Passport as an identification document for account transactions applicable to customers who are Vietnamese citizens
(Effective from 01 January 2026)
 
In order to comply with Circular No. 17/2024/TT-NHNN of the State Bank of Vietnam on the opening and use of payment accounts, and to ensure unified identification and transaction security, the National Citizen Commercial Joint Stock Bank (NCB) hereby respectfully announces:
From 01 January 2026, NCB will discontinue the acceptance of Passports as identification documents when conducting transactions related to payment accounts for customers who are Vietnamese citizens, specifically as follows:

1. Applicable subjects
•    Individual customers
•    Legal representatives / authorized representatives of corporate customers
•    Chief accountants / persons in charge of accounting
•    Related persons of corporate customers
 
2. Applicable services
•    Opening new payment accounts
•    Cash withdrawal and fund transfer transactions at counters and via electronic banking channels
•    Payments, use of banking services, and other financial transactions at NCB
•    Requests for changes to information related to accounts and identification records
 
3. Accepted valid identification documents
Customers are requested to use one of the following valid documents when transacting with NCB:
•    Citizen Identity Card (chip-based ID card)
•    Identity Card
•    Electronic Identity (VNeID – Level 2 identification)
 
To avoid transaction disruptions from 01 January 2026, customers are kindly requested to update their identification documents in accordance with the following instructions:
📍 For individual customers: Update via NCB iziMobile or at the nearest NCB Branch/Transaction Office
📍 For corporate customers: At the nearest NCB Branch/Transaction Office
 (Customers are requested to bring the original Citizen Identity Card / Identity Card).
